Why Now?

Are you happy with your community? Do you like the way North Brevard looks? Can you convince someone to move here? Maybe it’s time you decided to join the Greater Titusville Renaissance! The end of the Space Shuttle Program has brought an enormous challenge to the citizens of Greater Titusville, but not one that we haven’t met and conquered before. A conservative estimate of jobs lost includes 7-9,000 direct jobs with a 1.8 multiplier of subordinate jobs. On April 15, 2010, the White House promised the addition of more than 2,500 jobs along the Space Coast within two years and a $40 million initiative to develop a plan for regional economic growth and job creation. To date, the jobs have not materialized and in March 2011, the $40 million was cut from the federal budget.

Is Greater Titusville Renaissance just about jobs?

The space program has been active in North Brevard for 40 years. It has not positively affected our appearance. We’ve had clean industry and good-paying jobs for decades. Yet you see how our community looks. “No one from Washington is coming to save us, we have to save ourselves. Greater Titusville Renaissance is about the community coming together and working together to take pride and ownership in our community and dictating our own future. If we let someone else dictate it for us, we may not like the outcome,” said Robin Fisher, Chairman of the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners and co-founder, along with Titusville Mayor Jim Tulley, of the Greater Titusville Renaissance.

So, where do we go from here?
